Newsletter May 25
Hello dear friends!
We can start this newsletter with some good news: We are officially allowed to build an educational facility on our property. Of course, a school is to be built here, but we would like to start with a daycare center. The relevant authorities, as well as local residents, have confirmed to us how much such a facility is needed. We have already started planning the first building.
We are still in contact with the authorities regarding the admission of foster children, but there is nothing new to report here.
However, there is news in another area: after our move, it was difficult to regularly attend church services at our home church in Nairobi or even actively participate in church life due to the distance. Unfortunately, we have not yet found a new church here where we feel at home. As some people around us here feel the same way, we have started a small group similar to a church service. We are not so much interested in founding a church. Our main aim is to be part of a faith-filled community on a regular basis, because we really missed that. So far, we are an average of 12 people. We are excited to see how it develops.
Our Sunday-service-smallgroup.
What is also new is that Marco has started to learn Swahili. While everyone knew English in Nairobi and that was the language that was spoken most of the time, things are different here: English is a challenge for many people here and it is very useful and sometimes almost necessary to speak Swahili in order to communicate better. Marco is now working on this.
Outlook:
In the coming weeks, we will continue to work on the plans for the daycare center and of course we hope and pray that there will soon be news about the admission of foster children.
The plans for our stay in Germany in August and September are making good progress. More detailed information will follow soon.
Thank you:
Finally, we would like to thank everyone who supports us through donations, prayers or in a very practical way. It is you who make our work in Kenya possible.
Would you also like to support us and our work or do you have any questions, suggestions or similar? Please get in touch with us. We look forward to hearing from you!
Yours truly
Marco, Joy and Luana
